Dileep Vijayan
I am Dileep Vijayan, native of Kerala (the god’s own country), India. I am an active researcher in the area of computational and structural biology. I am interested to work on multi-disciplinary research projects which includes both computational and experimental studies.
My primary research focus is performing chemical biology research to propose lead molecules majorly for the drug targets in neurodegenerative disorders, epigenetics, cancer and inflammatory-related diseases by combining multiscale computational approaches with x-ray crystallography and other biophysical methods.
I am keen to exploit my expertise in computational and structural biology to study the structure, function and dynamics of various biological macromolecules and efficiently customize them for various purposes ranging from drug discovery to nanotechnology. In addition to that, I am also interested to study the structure, dynamics and catalysis of the various chemical systems by means of classical molecular dynamics simulations coupled with QM/MM simulations and free energy estimation. Learning about the 'mechanistic biology of pathogenic mutations' and 'role of hydration on the plasticity and function of the protein' are some of the other interests.
My passion is to become an independent researcher in the area of computational and structural biology and to perform high quality research for the betterment of humankind.
